There are three main types of public transportation methods available from Kansai International Airport:

1. Traveling by Train
Trains are one of the fastest and most convenient ways to get from the airport to central Osaka.
Two main railway lines are available:
(1) JR West (West Japan Railway Company)
JR West mainly operates the following services:
▼ Kansai- Airport Express “HARUKA”
Kansai- Airport Express “HARUKA” is a limited express train that is convenient and comfortable, offering direct service between Kansai International Airport and major stations in the Kansai area, such as Tennoji, Osaka, Shin-Osaka, and Kyoto.
It also provides convenient transfers to the Shinkansen (bullet train).
- Route: Kansai Airport Station – Shin-Osaka – Kyoto
- Travel time: Kansai Airport Station to Shin-Osaka Station: approx. 50 minutes; Kansai Airport Station to Kyoto Station: approx. 1 hour 20 minutes
- Fare (regular season): Kansai Airport Station to Shin-Osaka Station (reserved seat): 3,070 yen; Kansai Airport Station to Kyoto Station: 3,590 yen
- Advantages:

◎Both reserved and non-reserved seats
◎Popular among tourists

▼ Kansai Airport Rapid Service (Kansai Airport Line)
This is a rapid train that provides relatively inexpensive access to central Osaka.
- Route: Kansai Airport Station – Tennoji – Osaka Station
- Travel time: Kansai Airport Station to Tennoji: approx. 50 minutes; Kansai Airport to Osaka: approx. 70 minutes
- Fare: Kansai Airport Station to Tennoji Station: 1,060 yen; Kansai Airport Station to Osaka Station: 1,180 yen
- Advantages:
◎Affordable fare
◎Tends to get crowded
▲May be inconvenient for carrying large luggage

(2) Nankai Electric Railway
Nankai Electric Railway mainly operates in the southern part of Osaka and is convenient for access to Namba Station.

Limited Express “Rapi:t” is an airport access limited express train provided by Nankai Electric Railway, offering a comfortable ride to Namba Station
- Route: Kansai Airport Station – Namba Station
- Travel Time: Kansai Airport Station – Namba Station: approx. 34 to 39 minutes
- Fare: 1,490 yen
- Advantages:
◎All seats are reserved
◎Comfortable interior, popular with tourists

▼ Airport Express
This is an express train on the Nankai Main Line, ideal for travelers seeking a more budget-friendly option.
- Route: Kansai Airport Station – Namba Station
- Travel Time: Kansai Airport Station – Namba Station: approx. 45 to 50 minutes
- Fare: ¥970
- Advantages:
◎Low-cost transportation option
▲Makes many stops along the route
▲May become crowded during peak hours

2. Traveling by Bus
From Kansai International Airport, many limousine buses run to various locations in the Kansai region.
Many travelers use these buses because they offer the security of sitting down compared to trains, and they can get in front of hotels and tourist attractions.
▼ Osaka Area (Umeda, Namba, etc.)
- Travel Time: Kansai International Airport to Umeda: approx. 60 minutes; Kansai International Airport to Namba: approx. 50 minutes
- Fare: Around ¥1,800 (varies by route)
- Advantages:
◎Direct and comfortable service
◎Large baggage can be checked in
▲Slightly more expensive than trains, but highly convenient
▼ Kyoto Area
- Travel Time: Kansai International Airport to Kyoto Station: approx. 90–100 minutes
- Fare: around 2,800 yen (varies by route)
- Advantages:
◎ One of its main advantages is that it requires no transfers, unlike trains.
▲ However, it can become crowded during peak travel seasons.
▼ Kobe Area
- Travel Time: Kansai International Airport to Sannomiya: approx. 65 minutes
- Fare: around 2,200 yen (varies by route)
- Advantages:
◎Direct access to central Kobe
◎Sometimes more comfortable than trains
▼ Nara / Wakayama Area
- Nara: Kansai International Airport to Nara: approx. 85–95 minutes / Fare: approx. 2,300 yen
- Wakayama: Kansai International Airport to Wakayama City: approx. 40–50 minutes / Fare: approx. 1,400 yen
▼ Late Night / Early Morning Services
Some buses operate even during late night and early morning hours, making it possible to accommodate flights arriving late at night or departing early in the morning.

3. Traveling by High-Speed Ferry
As an alternative means of transportation from Kansai International Airport to Kobe, travelers can take the high-speed ferry “Bay Shuttle”.
This service connects Kansai International Airport and Kobe Airport via a direct maritime route, providing an efficient transfer unaffected by road traffic.
The ferry takes about 30 minutes between the two airports, making it an efficient and comfortable option for travelers and businesspeople heading to Kobe.
- Travel Time: Kansai International Airport – Kobe Airport: approx. 30 minutes
- Fare: Around 1,880 yen one-way for adults
- Baggage Fee: Generally free (an extra charge may apply for oversized or numerous pieces of luggage)
- Advantages:
◎Not affected by traffic congestion since it’s a sea route
◎Smooth transfer between Kansai International Airport and Kobe Airport
◎Enjoy scenic views of Osaka Bay during the ride
◎Large baggage can be checked in
Purchasing Tickets Upon Arrival at the Kansai International Airport
Kansai International Airport consists of Terminal 1 and Terminal 2.
The train station is located at Terminal 1; there is no train station at Terminal 2.
Bus stops are available at both terminals.
Below is an explanation about information desks and ticket purchasing at each terminal.
1. Terminal 1
Here is a detailed explanation of what to do after exiting the arrivals gate at Terminal 1.
(1) Information Desks and Ticket Counters
After exiting the international arrivals gate at Terminal 1, you will see an information desk nearby (Floor Map: *1A).
If you have any questions upon arrival, you can ask for assistance at this desk right away.

The Kansai Tourist Information Center (floor map: *1B), which handles much information for tourists, is also located on the first floor of Terminal 1.
Here, you can obtain various sightseeing information for the Kansai region as well as discounted transportation tickets.
*Please note that information counters may be unattended at certain times.

(2) Purchasing Bus Tickets
After exiting the international arrivals gate on the 1st floor, if you continue straight out of the airport building, you will find the bus stops.
The bus ticket counter is located just before the bus stops (Floor Map: *1C).
Bus tickets can be purchased at the counter or from the ticket vending machines.
If you have trouble finding the right bus for your destination, it’s a good idea to ask the staff at the counter for assistance.
*Please note that the ticket counter may be unattended at certain times.

(3) Purchasing Train Tickets
After exiting the arrivals gate, take the escalator (Floor Map: *1E) up to the 2nd floor.
Once there, exit the airport building and you will find a connecting passageway leading to Kansai Airport Station. Follow this passage to reach the station.
At Kansai Airport Station, the ticket offices and ticket gates for JR West (West Japan Railway Company) and Nankai Railway are separated and easy to find.

The JR lines at Kansai Airport Station are marked with blue signage.
There is a ticket office (Floor Map: *1F) and ticket vending machines (Floor Map: *1G). If you would like assistance with your destination or ticket options, it’s a good idea to consult with the staff at the ticket office.
The ticket vending machines can be used in English, Chinese, Korean, and Japanese.

▼ Nankai Line (Nankai Electric Railway)
The Nankai Line at Kansai Airport Station is marked with orange signage.
There is a ticket office (Floor Map: *1H) and ticket vending machines (Floor Map: *1J). If you would like assistance with your destination or ticket options, it’s a good idea to consult with the staff at the ticket office.
The ticket vending machines can be used in English, Chinese, Korean, and Japanese.

(4) Purchasing High-Speed Ferry Tickets
After exiting the arrivals gate, head to the far right side of the building, where you will find the high-speed boat ticket counter (Floor Map: *1D).
You will need to make a reservation for the ferry to Kobe at this counter.
You can also consult with the staff about departure times and transportation options after arriving at Kobe Airport.

(5) Terminal 1 and Kansai Airport Station Floor Maps


2. Terminal 2
Here is a detailed explanation of what to expect after exiting the arrivals area in Terminal 2.
There is no train station at Terminal 2, so if you wish to use the train, please take the terminal shuttle bus (Floor Map: *2C) to Terminal 1.

(1) Information Desks and Ticket Counters
After exiting the international arrivals gate at Terminal 2, you will see an information counter nearby (Floor Map: *2A).
If you have any questions upon arrival, you can ask for assistance at this desk right away.

(2) Purchasing Bus Tickets
After exiting the international arrivals gate, go straight out of the airport building.
Walk through the parking lot and continue straight for about 100 meters to reach the bus stops. The bus ticket counter is located just before the bus stops (Floor Map: *2D).
Bus tickets can be purchased at the counter or from the ticket vending machines (Floor Map: *2E).
If you have trouble finding the right bus for your destination, it’s a good idea to ask the staff at the counter for assistance.
*Please note that the ticket counter may be unattended at certain times.

(3) Purchasing High-Speed Ferry Tickets
After exiting the arrivals gate, head to the far right side of the building where you will find the high-speed boat ticket counter (Floor Map: *2B).
You will need to make a reservation for the ferry to Kobe at this counter.
You can also consult with the staff about departure times and transportation options after arriving at Kobe Airport.
